Bošnjak, Ernest (Sombor, 1 /1/ 1876 – Sombor, 9/8/1963) – film director, cameraman and producer, with A. Lifka and V. Totovic a pioneer of film making in Vojvodina until 1918. He begins showing short films and news in the Town Theatre as early as 1907, and in 1909, with K. Cviršic, has the first Vojvodina timber-built 450 - seater cinema erected – Arena mozi. The same year, he shoots his first feature film – Terpsihore Birodalomban (In the Kingdom of Terpsichore), now lost. His oldest surviving film is a documentary recording The Unveiling of the Monument to Ferencz Rákóczy that took place in Sombor in 1912; it is the first film in the history of Yugoslav cinematography where the so-called tracking shot (a camera moving about) has been employed. His idea of starting a ‘film factory' in Sombor, conceived before World War One, becomes reality in 1923 when he founds the ‘Boer film' company, which comes up with a few productions: Test Shots of the First Yugoslav Film Factory (I, II) ; Lie for My Sake ; Kedvesbolcsom (My dear cradle, 1924); Faun (1924) etc. A printer by profession and the owner of a printing shop, from 1907 to 1939 he prints 11 papers, acting as the publisher and editor of some of them, the most important being: Bacskai mozi (Cinema of Bačka , 1907) and Sport es mozi (Sports and cinema, 1929–1930).
